An upcoming meeting with the Director and administration of Bintulu Vocational College to explore potential volunteer involvement in our White Cane Day celebration. White Cane Day is an important event that raises awareness about the independence of individuals who are blind or visually impaired.

SBM Sarawak Branch Partners with Politeknik Kuching Sarawak to Enhance Mobility Support for the Visually Impaired

Politeknik Kuching Sarawak provided our organization with an opportunity to participate in their program. During the event, the committee members of SBM Sarawak Branch shared various techniques on how to assist visually impaired individuals with movement both inside and outside buildings.

Building Connections and Celebrating Heritage: National Day Visit to Pontian’s Visually Impaired Community

During a visit program in conjunction with Malaysia’s National Day from August 30th to September 2nd, 2023, our delegation had the opportunity to visit a community of visually impaired friends in the Pontian area. We also had the chance to explore several interesting and historical sites.

The 2023 Leadership Course for Officers

Gratitude and appreciation were also extended to the President, Tuan Haji Mohammed Nazari bin Haji Othman, Secretary-General En. Rosham Sidek, and Chairman of JPMI, En. Mustaza Mohamad Zin, who served as speakers to ensure the success of the 2023 Borneo Zone Leadership Course, uniting SBM Sarawak Branch and SBM Sabah Branch.

On March 25, 2024, we proudly mark 60 years since the establishment of the Society of the Blind in Malaysia (SBM). Over the past six decades, SBM has grown to become a beacon of support, empowerment, and advocacy for the visually impaired community across the nation.
